• CURATORIAL CONTRIBUTION: From October 26–30, the Asian Film Festival Berlin (AFFB) will present over 30 contemporary Asian feature, documentary, and short films that take “Imagine(d) Kinships” and “Food” as their themes. The screenings will take place at Haus der Kulturen der Welt and the Korean Embassy’s
Department of Cultural Affairs in Berlin. The Festival will show new works from Vietnam, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Korea and the Asian diaspora that present a variety of notions of family and kinship. As a result of processes of globalization and social transformation, life conceptions and notions of community in Asia and the Asian diaspora are constantly in flux. Established forms of dominance continue while new spaces for exciting modes of selfconceptualization and new forms of the communal emerge.
